TODD GLORIA LANDS POWERHOUSE LABOR ENDORSEMENT FROM SEIU
Trio of SEIU Locals Representing Thousands of San Diego Workers Unite Behind Todd Gloria for San Diego Mayor
SAN DIEGO, CA – California State Assemblymember Todd Gloria (D-San Diego), a Democratic candidate for San Diego Mayor in 2020, secured a major endorsement as the working men and women of SEIU Local 221, SEIU-USWW, and SEIU Local 1000 all endorsed his campaign to be the next Mayor of the City of San Diego.
“In this campaign, we believe San Diego needs to make a series of different choices to explain very clearly that we want the working class of San Diego to thrive. We cannot have a truly great city without workers who are able to afford to live and raise a family here,” said Assemblymember Todd Gloria. “This endorsement from SEIU helps underline that our campaign will deliver for working people in this community, and I am grateful for their support.”
SEIU Local 221 is the largest employee union for County of San Diego employees. SEIU-USWW represents more than 45,000 janitors, security officers, airport service workers, and other property service workers throughout California. SEIU Local 1000 is the largest public sector union in California representing state government workers.
SEIU joins a broad coalition of organizations representing working people in supporting Todd Gloria’s campaign for Mayor — including the San Diego City Firefighters Local 145, the San Diego Municipal Employees Association, American Federation of Teachers Guild Local 1931, Laborers Local 89, and AFSCME Local 3299 (partial list).
