SAN DIEGO, CA – In a rare early endorsement from California’s senior United States Senator, U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein today announced her choice for San Diego Mayor in 2020: California State Assemblymember Todd Gloria (D-San Diego). In announcing her support for Assemblymember Gloria, Senator Feinstein cited Gloria’s pragmatic leadership and extensive experience getting things done for San Diego.
“Todd Gloria is an effective and pragmatic leader who consistently delivers results for San Diego and stands up for working families and our most vulnerable,” said Senator Feinstein. “As a former Mayor, I know the importance of having strong and experienced leaders at the helm and I believe there is no one better equipped to serve as San Diego’s next Mayor than Todd Gloria.”
Senator Feinstein adds to an impactful list of federal, state, and local elected officials supporting Todd Gloria’s candidacy for Mayor including California Governor Gavin Newsom, Senate President Pro Tempore Toni Atkins, U.S. Congressman Scott Peters, San Diego City Attorney Mara Elliott, and Chula Vista Mayor Mary Salas (partial list).
“I am humbled to have earned the support of Senator Feinstein,” said Assemblymember Gloria. “Senator Feinstein has been a fierce advocate for Californians from all walks of life. She has a distinguished career working on critical issues such as gun violence, homelessness, and environmental protection. I look forward to working with Senator Feinstein as San Diego’s Mayor to make sure every San Diegan in every neighborhood can live and build a future here.”
