Councilmember Tony Young Endorses Todd Gloria for City Council
District 4 Representative Says Gloria is Ready to Lead District 3
SAN DIEGO – Councilmember Tony Young announced his endorsement of Todd Gloria’s candidacy for San Diego’s Third Council District today.
“Todd Gloria has spent his entire life serving the communities he now hopes to represent,” said Councilmember Young. “Todd knows the issues and has the relationships in the neighborhoods that will allow him to lead the Third District forward.”
Councilmember Young was elected to represent the Fourth Council District on the San Diego City Council in 2004. In that role, he has been a passionate advocate for youth and economic development.
“Councilmember Young has been an eloquent voice for the neighborhoods he represents,” said Gloria. “I’m honored to have his support and looking forward to working with him on the City Council to address issues like economic opportunity and curbing gang violence.”
Young joins a growing list of diverse Democratic leaders in endorsing Todd Gloria’s campaign. Included among Gloria’s supporters are Councilmember Ben Hueso, Congresswoman Susan Davis, School Board Member Sheila Jackson and Lemon Grove Mayor Mary Sessom.
Additionally, Gloria has been endorsed by the Chicano Democratic Association, the San Diego Democratic Women’s Club, and the San Diego County Young Democrats.
Gloria won the June 3rd primary election with nearly 41% of the vote. The runoff for the Third Council District seat will take place on November 4, 2008.
